About Elizabeth George Speare
Elizabeth George Speare is an American author, born on November 21 1908 in Melrose Massachusetts. She got married and moved to Connecticut in 1936. She was the winner of many awards for her historical fiction novels. this includes two Newberry Medals. As Elizabeth recalled she had an "exceptionally happy" childhood, she remembers hiking and playing in the woods and occasionally going to concerts and theatres on Boston. Her gift of writing was discovered when she was eight and published her first book in 1957 (Calico Captive). Elizabeth George Speare died on November 15, 1994 but is still remembered through her great works of literature.
